In 2005, I studied in Argentina and, more recently, in Valencia, Spain last year. These experiences have been highly enriching and it is something that I would encourage to each and every college student. I can say unequivocally that it has been the best decision I have made in my time here at Georgia Tech. It has given me a whole new perspective on the world as well as myself as an individual.

By stepping out of the box to study and learn, I realized a lot about myself and my relation to the world. I not only met a variety of people from every corner of the world, but I got the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture. Especially at this time in our young lives, it is important that we confront these new experiences and see what the world has to offer us. Not to mention that professionally I am definitely ahead of the typical student curve when it comes time to interview. With the increasingly global economy, companies love to see a student who has already gained such experience. Not only that, but how many people can say they have friends in several countries around the world?

The great thing about Georgia Tech is they have so many study abroad programs that you are certain to find one that is right for you. Be it Africa, Australia, Asia or wherever you want to go, there is no excuse not to go. It is truly an incredible experience that can last a lifetime. Bottom line: the people I met, the sights I saw, the food I ate, and countless other things I will always remember and wouldn't trade for anything.

Eddie Lott, a fifth-year industrial and systems engineering student, explains the benefits of studying abroad while at Georgia Tech.
http://www.gatech.edu/contact/index.html?id=rpocklington3">Contact Rachael Pocklington
404-385-3920
limited_html
rachael.pocklington@vpss.gatech.edu
