Campbell, M.D.\u003Cbr \/\u003E \u003C\/strong\u003EProfessor of Orthopaedic Surgery\u003Cbr \/\u003E Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ERobert M. Campbell Jr., M.D., is a pediatric orthopedist esteemed for his role in inventing the Vertical Expandable Prosthetic Titanium Rib (VEPTR). VEPTR is used to treat rare diseases of the spine and chest wall, through surgical expansion of the chest and correction of spinal deformity, without inhibiting children\u2019s growth. The titanium rib, approved by the FDA in 2004, has been introduced in more than 30 countries and is considered the gold standard for treating fragile pediatric patients with lung-restricting deformities.
