{"125631":{"#nid":"125631","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Generation Green: Liam Rattray Memorial Service Project","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EAs a tribute to Liam Rattray\u2019s dedication to sustainability and urban agriculture, Generation Green is hosting the Liam Rattray Memorial Service Project at the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.trulylivingwell.com\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ETruly Living Well Center for Natural Urban Agriculture\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ELiam grew up in Atlanta and was one of the city\u0027s most promising young environmental leaders. In his sophomore year at Georgia Tech, Liam founded Students Organizing for Sustainability (SOS) and laid the groundwork for Tech\u0027s campus garden, community supported agriculture program and sustainable dining committee. His reach extended well beyond the campus setting to community organizations that include Georgia Organics, Atlanta Local Food Initiative, East Atlanta Farmers Market, Truly Living Well Farms, Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance and many more.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOn Memorial Day 2011, just weeks after graduating from Georgia Tech\u0027s Honors Program with his bachelor\u2019s degree in public policy, Liam was killed by a drunk driver in Little Five Points while on his moped. This loss was a stunning blow to Atlanta\u0027s sustainability community and all the people whose lives Liam touched.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJoin us in honoring Liam through community service to support the growing movement for sustainable food systems in Atlanta.\u0026nbsp;The event will take place at Truly Living Well\u2019s main farm at 3353 Washington Road in East Point, GA.\u0026nbsp;Work will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until lunchtime, around 12:30 or 1 p.m. If there is sufficient volunteer interest, we will expand to additional Truly Living Well sites.\u0026nbsp;Parking is limited at the farm, so we encourage people to take MARTA, bike or carpool.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMark your calendars, tell your friends and plan to come out for this day of service, socializing and celebrating a life devoted to sustainability and wellness in Atlanta and beyond.
