Potts Student Advisory Council (SAC) Leadership Award. Mordel was selected to receive the award by his peers in the USG\u2019s Student Advisory Council, composed of the student government association presidents of the System\u2019s 31 colleges and universities and representing a total of 315,000 students.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe Student Advisory Council really focuses on identifying an individual who truly represents the type of leadership values recognized in this award,\u201d said Dr. Joyce Jones, the USG\u2019s vice chancellor for Student Affairs. \u201cEran is an excellent choice and role model for students.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOriginally from Jerusalem, Mordel moved to Tifton, Georgia, and then to Marietta, where he graduated from Walton High School. He is a senior and fourth year Industrial and Systems Engineering major at Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI\u2019m incredibly humbled to receive this award,\u201d said Mordel. \u201cHowever, the real reward is being invited to serve among this group of talented, committed students. I\u2019m incredibly excited for the future of the SAC, the new leadership under Dr. Jones, and higher education in the State of Georgia.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to serving as the student government president, Mordel was voted as Mr. Georgia Tech. Outside of student government, he has been involved in a number of campus activities including the Georgia Tech Ambassadors, Omicron Delta Kappa, a number of Institute committees, and his social fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMordel has studied abroad through Georgia Tech in Metz, France, and has completed internships with the Consulate of Israel, Siemens, UBS and Accenture.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Regent Willis J. Potts Student Advisory Council (SAC) Leadership Award is in its fourth year. The SAC membership named the award in honor of former Regent Potts\u2019 leadership, service and commitment to University System students.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EEach year the membership of the SAC anonymously votes for one its members that has attended at least three SAC conferences or sponsored events and exhibited strong leadership in the organization. The student must also demonstrate knowledge about the USG, its policies and operations. The student must be open, honest, respectful of others and enthusiastic in the engagement of all SAC activities and conferences.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Student Advisory Council was formed in 1968 and provides a forum for communications between University System students, the chancellor, the board, state officials and the public.
