Johann Weber, a 4th year PhD student in the School of Public Policy, conducted a case comparison of recurring street closure programs (sometimes called "Open Streets") to better understand their organization, funding, and features. His analysis provides valuable insight into the critical considerations surrounding developing such programs, as well as recommendations for the use of such programs to accomplish economic development, community development, transportation, and public health goals.

What skills and educational offerings are needed to support metro Atlanta emerging health IT cluster?

Jonathan Law, a second-year PhD student in the School of City and Regional Planning at Georgia Tech, explored  how university-level educational programs align with the skills and knowledge needs of the emerging health information technology cluster in Atlanta as a case study.  His presentation will address what skills, competencies, and educational backgrounds are most commonly required by Atlanta-area health IT firms. He will present  recommendations for university programs to better the health IT cluster.

How can urban streams be enhanced to generate economic development?

Jesse Zaro-Moore is a rising second-year masters student at Georgia Tech's School of City and Regional Planning.  Jesse will discuss how Peachtree Creek could become Atlanta's next transformative project by developing it as small-scale urban waterfront, using lessons from urban waterfront redevelopment, urban greenways, and modern watershed management.  His presentation will address key questions like what have other cities done with their urban waterways, what investments might such an undertaking require, and how it could enhance existing projects like the Atlanta Beltline.
