{"260551":{"#nid":"260551","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Strategic Plan Advisory Group Delivers Initial Report","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EIn partnership with the Institute\u0027s leadership team, the Strategic Planning Advisory Group has released some of its initial feedback on the implementation of the Institute\u0027s Strategic Plan.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe group was \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.strategicvision.gatech.edu\/news\/president-appoints-strategic-plan-advisory-group\u0022\u003Ecreated by President Bud Peterson in May\u003C\/a\u003E and charged with providing advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to the alignment, effectiveness and impact of the Strategic Plan released in August 2010. They delivered an overview of findings to leadership last month.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022We set out to meet with campus academic leaders, administrative leaders and project champions to assess the activity and enthusiasm for implementing the goals outlined in Tech\u0027s strategic plan,\u0022 said David Frost, professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and chair of the advisory group. \u0022What we heard was that the document continues to be the foundation for a lot of unit-level planning and new initiative development.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn its initial report, the vision, mission, and overall goals of the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.strategicvision.gatech.edu\/sites\/vision.gatech.edu\/files\/Georgia_Tech_Strategic_Plan.pdf\u0022\u003EStrategic Plan\u003C\/a\u003E remain unchanged. It did recommend that some of the objectives be revised to better reflect the Institute\u0027s priorities and future goals.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022The advisory group\u0027s assessment was a good indication that the main ideas articulated in strategic plan developed by the Georgia Tech community are still sound,\u0022 Peterson said. \u0022In 2010 we developed a very forward-looking plan. Our task now is to see that we continue our momentum toward achieving those very ambitious goals.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs a standing committee, the advisory group will continue to meet in the spring.
