Munmun's research combines computer science and social science into developing computational techniques that can lead to a better understanding of human behavior online. She has been a recipient of the Grace Hopper Scholarship, recognized with an IBM Emergent Leaders in Multimedia award, and a finalist of Facebook Fellowship. Earlier, Munmun was a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research, a research fellow at Rutgers, and obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Arizona State University in 2011.
