{"271021":{"#nid":"271021","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tyler Chappel Strives for Sustainable International Development","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ETyler Chappel, a GT Honors Program senior majoring in Psychology and taking pre-med curriculum, recently changed his mind, big-time.\u0026nbsp; Instead of medical school\u2014a long-time goal of his\u2014Tyler is applying to graduate study in sustainable development, all because of six weeks in Ghana.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAt great monetary expense to himself, he applied to do research with Global Brigade last summer, and discovered his calling.\u0026nbsp; He investigated why many medical efforts in developing countries are\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003Enot\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;sustainable, and came to realize the importance of collaborating with and supporting a government\u2019s internal initiatives\u2026sometimes.\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u201cOne of the main things I learned was how difficult it can be to provide sustainable fixes to problems.
