The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) also provides a\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.urop.gatech.edu\/students\/how-to-get-involved\u0022\u003E10-step process\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;for how to get involved in research as a starting point.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStudents who are in Atlanta over the summer can also make appointments to visit labs on campus and get a tour from a graduate student, post-doc, or undergraduate researcher.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cSummer is ideal for meeting researchers in the lab, plus the pace is a little more relaxed,\u201d Reaves said. \u201cIt\u2019s also a great time to ask questions and to get a feel for what is really done in that specific research program.\u201d\u0026nbsp;Students can also attend departmental presentations as another means of meeting researchers and learning about current projects.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn some cases, students may also have the opportunity to volunteer in a lab.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThis is another good way to get a foot in the door,\u201d Reaves said.
