{"325531":{"#nid":"325531","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tech Sets New Record for Total Graduate Student Enrollment","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThis fall, Georgia Tech welcomes a record-breaking total of more than 8,400 new and current graduate students to campus.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThanks to the popularity of cutting-edge degree programs, we\u2019ve seen a significant jump in the size of our overall enrollment, which has been less than 7,000 students in recent years,\u201d said Susan Cozzens, vice provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Affairs.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAlso, the number of first-time graduate students has increased to 2,936 compared to last fall\u2019s enrollment of about 1,900 students.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cIt\u2019s impressive to think that more than 36 percent of this fall\u2019s total enrollment at Georgia Tech are pursuing a master\u2019s or Ph.D.,\u201d said David Bamburowski, director of the Office of Graduate Studies. \u201cWe\u2019re so happy to welcome an incredibly diverse graduate student population to Georgia Tech.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAbout 60 percent of all graduate students are pursuing master\u2019s degrees, a number that is a 43 percent increase from last year, and 40 percent are pursuing Ph.D.s.
