376411 event 1423565397 1492118408 <![CDATA[Becoming self-authoring: Navigating your graduate career]]> In her dissertation work, Dr. Brook Sattler explored how to support engineering undergraduates in becoming self-authoring—a mindset associated with being able to step outside of situations and explore them in light of one’s own values and beliefs. As you are navigating your graduate career, it can be an important time to be aware of how you are being socialized to a discipline and the potential to be a self-authoring scholar. In this brown bag session, Dr. Sattler will share background information from her dissertation work and brainstorm with you—Georgia Tech graduate students— connections and implications to your graduate career.

 Dr. Brook Sattler completed her Ph.D. in Human Centered Design and Engineering in 2012 from the University of Washington.  She is currently a Research Scientist at the Center for Engineering Learining and Teaching at UW.  Dr. Sattler will be visiting Georgia Tech as part of the Consortium for the Promotion of Reflection in Engineering Education Grant (CPREE) through the University of Washington.  For more information about her research and teaching interests and experiences, please visit her website:
