  <body><![CDATA[<p><strong>“Light: A Powerful Tool for Neonatal Brain Monitoring”&nbsp;</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><strong>Erin Buckley, Ph.D.</strong><strong><br /></strong><strong>Research Scientist</strong><strong><br /></strong><strong>Biomedical Engineering<br />Georgia Tech &amp; Emory University<br /></strong></strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Seminar&nbsp;will be made available via videoconference in the Health Sciences Research Building, room E 182 and Technology Enterprise Park, room 104.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Near infrared and diffuse correlation spectroscopies (NIRS and DCS, respectively) are emerging modalities used to non-invasively measure cortical cerebral blood flow, blood volume, oxygen saturation, and metabolic rate of oxygen. This talk will present an overview of the technologies, summarizing the advantages and limitations of the methods, and describing recent applications to neonatal animal and human cohorts.&nbsp; I will highlight future applications where NIRS/DCS may play a pivotal role individualizing patient management and enhancing our understanding of neurovascular coupling, activation, and brain development.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]></body>
