Tim\u2019s talk, \u201cSustainability in Unique Sports, Convention, and Events Facilities,\u201d will explian how sustainability plays a factor in their operations and, to a greater extent, the overall footprint the events have on Atlanta.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThomas F. Gilbane Jr. is the chairman and chief executive officer of Gilbane, Inc., a holding\u003Cbr \/\u003Ecompany with two principal subsidiaries, Gilbane Building Company of which he is chairman and chief executive officer, and Gilbane Development Company. He sets the strategy and goals for Gilbane, Inc. in collaboration with the Board of Directors, directs the organization\u2019s growth through \u003Cbr \/\u003Eacquisitions or investments and oversees Gilbane Building Company to ensure profitable operation and continued growth.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs a member of the fourth generation of family leaders, Tom joined Gilbane Building Company\u003Cbr \/\u003Ein 1970. He has served in numerous field and management positions during his 45-year tenure. Under his leadership, Gilbane operates with a \u201cone company\u201d philosophy that maximizes the organization\u2019s resources and expertise on projects and business pursuits. He has been the driving force behind the company\u2019s global expansion. Gilbane\u2019s extensive geographic footprint now includes over 50 U.S. and international offices, allowing efficient cost-effective execution of projects across the globe.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETom was recently recognized by the National Safety Council as one of 2014\u2019s CEOs Who \u2018Get\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt\u2019, an annual recognition of leaders who demonstrate a personal commitment to world-class safety. He serves as treasurer for the Executive Committee of the Construction Industry Round Table;co-chairs the ACE Mentor Program of America; and is a member of the National Academy of Construction and a Babson College Trustee.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHe graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Business Advanced Management Program; Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering; Babson College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management; Rhode Island School of Design, Evening Division with a Certificate in Building Construction; and attended Brown University for three years studying liberal arts.
