  <title><![CDATA[LMC Participates in INCS Conference in April]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>LMC was well represented at the Interdisciplinary Nineteenth Century Studies conference, held in Atlanta from April 16 to 19 and hosted by Georgia Tech. The conference theme investigated the various mobilities and exchanges of the nineteenth century.</p><p>The planning committee, which had worked for almost two years to plan the conference, which celebrated the organization’s 30<sup>th</sup> anniversary, included Narin Hassan, Carol Senf, and Nicole Lobdell. The core group was assisted by other people from LMC and HTS who worked on the planning as well as presented papers, moderated panels, worked at the registration table, and offered hospitality to the 320 participants, who came from the US, Canada, Spain, France, Colombia, Australia, Germany, Copenhagen, and the UK. This group, which included faculty and graduate students, participated in 90 individual sessions, including two plenaries and two keynotes.</p><p>LMC faculty who moderated panels or presented papers were Rebecca Burnett, Carol Colatrella, Hugh Crawford, Nihad Farooq, Narin Hassan, Jacqueline Royster, and Carol Senf. Richard Utz, LMC Chair and Jacqueline Royster, IAC Dean and LMC faculty, welcomed participants to the conference.</p><p>Current Brittain Fellows presenting papers or moderating panels included Stephen Addcox, Kristin Allukian, Joy Bracewell, John Browning, Mauro Carassai, Annalee Edmondson, Amanda Golden, Liz Hutter, Valerie Johnson, Caitlin Kelly, Nicole Lobdell, Olga Menagarishvilli, Lauren Neefe, Sarah O’Brien, and Iuliu Ratiu.</p><p>Past Brittain Fellows who returned to Atlanta for the conference included Mollie Barnes (University of South Carolina – Beaufort), Katie Crowther (Georgia Perimeter College), Lauren Curtright (Georgia Perimeter College), Lisa Hagar (University of Wisconsin -- Waukesha), Reshmi Hebbar (Oglethorpe), Leeann Hunter (Washington State University), and Roger Whitson (Washington State University).</p><p>There was also undergraduate and alumni representation. Bryn Gravitt, a former LMC student and PhD student at Tufts, presented on her evolving dissertation research. Annette Malagon Almonte (who graduated in 2014) worked on the branding/publicity and attended. A number of undergraduate students attended various portions of the conference, and Veronica Rubinsztain and Daniel Kang, current LMC students, helped with the planning for the conference.<br /> </p>]]></body>
