Her research on the impact of smart growth strategies on housing prices in metro Atlanta was awarded a research grant by the Housing Community Development Division of American Planning Association (APA) in spring 2010.

She currently works as a GIS assistant at Atlanta Regional Commission providing technical support in forecasting for 2040. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Kyungsoon worked as a researcher at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET) in Seoul, South Korea, and as a real estate consultant in the private sector. She also served as a research assistant in the Environmental Planning Institute (EPI) in the Seoul National University participating in several urban development projects.

Kyungsoon holds a master’s degree of urban design and planning from Seoul National University, a master's degree in City and Regional Planning from Georgia Tech, and bachelor’s degree of urban engineering from University of Seoul, South Korea.
