43648 event 1280852724 1475891270 <![CDATA[Construction History Society of America Inaugural Event]]> The Georgia Tech College of Architecture is supporting the formation of an American branch of the Construction History Society of America. The group will hold its inaugural symposium November 6-8th, 2008, with the theme of the event being "Learning from Design and Construction Failures." Although full participation in the conference requires registration and payment, the general public is invited to a free session on Saturday, November 8th entitled "Atlanta 1908 - A Design and Construction Perspective."

Chairman of the organizing committee is Brian Bowen, Professor of Practice at the College of Architecture. He is assisted by representatives from MIT, Texas A&M, University of Pennsylvania, University of Iowa and ACEC.

The Construction History Society (UK), the parent organization formed in 1982, publishes newsletters and a scholarly journal, and organizes programs focused on the study of history and evolution of all aspects of the built environment
