{"440451":{"#nid":"440451","#data":{"type":"event","title":"SCaRP Research Seminar: Dr. Robert Boyer","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ERobert Boyer is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at UNC Charlotte, and a faculty affiliate with both UNC Charlotte\u2019s program in Public Policy and the Infrastructure and Environmental Systems (INES) program.\u0026nbsp; He earned his PhD in Regional Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013. His research focuses on experimentation in the built environment, specifically how grassroots environmental movements\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.planetizen.com\/node\/72732\/eco-village-concept-climate-mitigation-might-require-experimentation\u0022\u003Einfluence long-term plans\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;for urban and regional development. He is interested in alternative residential development models like cohousing and ecovillages, and how these community spaces nurture innovation in construction,\u0026nbsp; transportation, and other material practices. A seasoned performer of improvisational comedy, Boyer has just begun exploring the usefulness of\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/clas-pages.uncc.edu\/robert-boyer\/files\/2015\/10\/BoyerHopkins_ActingUnderTheInfluence_ACSP2015.pdf\u0022\u003Eimprovisational comedy\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;as a metaphor for how plans work as signals in complex, multi-actor urban regions.
