Georgia Tech\u2019s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/create-x.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ECREATE-X\u003C\/a\u003E is a perfect place to start.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECREATE-X is an institutional initiative to grow students\u2019 entrepreneurial confidence. The initiative focuses on three distinct categories of programs, occurring successively, that can lead students from an idea all the way to launching their company.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/startupsummer.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EStartup Summer\u003C\/a\u003E is the program\u2019s culminating 12-week internship program for students and recent graduates that can be accompanied by up to $20,000 in funding support.\u0026nbsp;Startup Summer\u2019s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/startupsummer.gatech.edu\/apply\/\u0022\u003Einitial application deadline\u003C\/a\u003E is Nov. 10.\u0026nbsp;However students may opt to start with \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/startuplab.gatech.edu\/#home\u0022\u003EStartup Lab\u003C\/a\u003E, a three-credit-hour \u201cfree\u201d elective, occurs first. The course teaches evidence-based entrepreneurship and customer discovery. Startup Lab will be available for the spring semester as a computer science special topics course.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/i2p.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EIdea 2 Prototype\u003C\/a\u003E (I2P) offers up to six hours of undergraduate research course credit for student teams to build their working prototypes. Grants for materials and supplies are available for each team. I2P is open to all majors and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStartup Summer is the culmination of CREATE-X. Teams must apply to join Startup Summer. Accepted teams receive space, grant money (up to $20,000), mentorship, curriculum, intellectual property protection, and visibility. Alumni and industry veterans serve as mentors for the teams. No more than 20 to 25 teams of four people maximum will be accepted into Startup Summer 2016.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAtlanta entrepreneur and College of Computing Advisory Board Member Chris Klaus provided significant funding for CREATE-X. He believes in finding unique ways to encourage student entrepreneurship.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech is expanding its culture from \u2018becoming a great engineer\u2019 to creating new opportunities on the bleeding edge of new problem spaces,\u201d said Klaus. \u201cCREATE-X will provide the foundation to launch ideas into real, valuable companies that allow students to realize their dreams and ambitions.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ELikewise, the College of Computing is partnering with CREATE-X to help instill entrepreneurial confidence in students.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cComputing is now at the forefront of all new developments,\u201d Essa said. \u201cThe College of Computing is engaging with CREATE-X\u0027s efforts to provide pathways for computing students to bring their own brand of creative skills to create new efforts.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"Are you serious about startups?
