{"509151":{"#nid":"509151","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Health Promotion Makes Free HIV Testing Available","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EHealth Promotion will offer free HIV testing on Thursday, March 17 from 10am-2pm at the Student Center in the Piedmont Room.\u0026nbsp; The free testing, provided by\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.aidshealth.org\/#\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EAIDS Healthcare Foundation\u003C\/a\u003E, is available to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff at no charge.\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003ETesting will be performed using the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.biolytical.com\/products\/instiHIV\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EINSTI test\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;and results will be given immediately.\u0026nbsp; Health Educators will be present to make sexual health information and safer sex supplies available.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis event is a part of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/healthpromotion.gatech.edu\/promotion\/Pages\/Services-Programs\/Get-Yourself-Protected.aspx\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EG.Y.P. (Get Yourself Protected)\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;campaign being implemented by Health Promotion. The goal of G.Y.P. is to empower Georgia Tech students to make healthy decisions regarding protection if they choose to be sexually active.\u0026nbsp; HIV testing is available to eligible students at\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/health.gatech.edu\/Pages\/default.aspx\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EStamps Health Services\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;at a low cost on an ongoing basis.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMany sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, can be asymptomatic (which means a person could have a STI and not know it).\u0026nbsp; One in eight (12.8%) of those people living with HIV in the United States are unaware of their infection\u003Csup\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/sup\u003E(CDC, 2015).
