Here, we will discuss an extension of the LBM to compute free surface flows. The basis of our study is an approach similar to volume-of-fluids method. In combination with appropriate boundary conditions, it is efficient and fully mass conserving. Results for parallel versions of the algorithm will be discussed together with extensions such as coupling to shallow water simulations.

BIO:
Ulrich Ruede
1984 Master of Science - Florida State Univ.
1988 PhD: Technische Universitaet Muenchen
1989 Post Doc Univ. of Colorado, Boulder
1993 Habilitation: Technische Universitaet Muenchen
1996 Associate Prof.: Univ. of Augsburg
1998 Full Prof.: Univ. of Erlangen-Nuremberg 2000 Guest Prof.: Univ. of Colorado, Boulder
Since 2005: Editor-in-Chief, SIAM J.
