This is in support of the renovation of the second floor in the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nCollege of Computing building that will house the Center for Robotics and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nIntelligent Machines (RIM). RIM\u2019s director has requested high-speed cabling in\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nthe Center and we are working to understand the technology and the implications\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nof its use. I would like to invite anyone that is interested in learning about\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nthe technology to attend.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EPaul sits on the standards board for the 10-gigabit\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nstandard and is purported to be one of the industry experts on networking\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ntechnologies. He is the current chairman of the TIA TR-42 engineering committee\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nresponsible for telecommunications cabling standards for commercial and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nresidential installations. He has been active in the development of cabling\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nstandards since 1989. In 1991, he initiated the work that led to the publication\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nof additional specifications for Category 3, 4 \u0026amp; 5 cables which, since then,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nhave had a major impact in the cabling industry.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EPaul Kish is also a member of the BICSI TIM Committee that\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nis responsible for the \u0022Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual\u0022. Paul\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nKish graduated with an M.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nUniversity of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1972. He started to work as a cable\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ndesign engineer with Bell Northern Research in 1972. He joined Northern Electric\u003Cbr \/\u003E\na year later to work on cable development projects. He has held a number of\u003Cbr \/\u003E\npositions at Northern Telecom including Manager of the Cable Development\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nLaboratories, Manager of Cable Design and Product Manager for Belden IBDN\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nCabling.
