Williams Museum of Papermaking will be participating in the Blue Star Museums program this summer, a collaboration across the United States offering free or reduced admission or special programs to active duty military and their families. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022Default\u0022\u003EBlue Star Museums is a partnership among the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense (DoD) and more than 2,000 museums across America. The program kicks off on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) and runs through Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 5).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022Default\u0022\u003EThe museum, located in the Paper Tricentennial Building on 10\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C\/sup\u003E Street, is free to the public, but Virginia Howell, the museum\u2019s education curator, said the participation in the Blue Star Museum program is a way to say \u201cthank you\u201d to military families. \u201cThe opportunity to thank them for their service and to be able to share cultural treasures is something we are proud of,\u201d she said.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022Default\u0022\u003ENEA Chairman Jane Chu added, \u201cThe Blue Star Museums program is a fun, free activity for military families to enjoy during the summer months. The program is also a great way for service member families to connect to their new communities, and it can provide a meaningful way for families to reconnect after deployment. The Blue Star Museums program is also a perfect way for the arts community to say \u2018thank you\u2019 to our service members and their families for the sacrifices they make on our behalf, every day.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022Default\u0022\u003EBlue Star Families Chief Executive Officer Kathy Roth-Douquet said the program has grown into a nationally recognized program that service members and their families look forward to each year. \u201cIt helps bring our local military and civilian communities together, and offers families fun and enriching activities in their home towns.
