D\u2019Agostino; and Russian\nAmbassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.\u0026nbsp;\nThe forum is open to the public.\u0026nbsp;\nProgram background, schedule and registration are available at \u003Ca href=\u0022\/\/\/C:\\Users\\rkeane3\\Documents\\Press%20Releases\\www.inta.gatech.edu\\sam-nunn-forum\u0022\u003Ewww.inta.gatech.edu\/sam-nunn-forum\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EA number of world events, including global leadership transition, anxiety\nabout the state of the nonproliferation regime, the threat of catastrophic\nterrorism and expectations of a global renaissance of nuclear energy, have\nprovided a new impetus for nuclear weapons risk reduction.\u0026nbsp; The 2010 Sam Nunn Bank of America\nPolicy Forum seeks to contribute to this agenda by addressing strategic\nengagement and confidence building in the Euro-Atlantic relationship \u2013 steps\nthat will be integral to advancing U.S. \u2013 Russian nuclear arms reductions and\nenlisting other nuclear weapons states to join in nuclear threat reduction and\nthe disarmament process. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003ESenator Nunn has said, \u201cThe goal of a world free of nuclear weapons is like\nthe top of a very tall mountain.\u0026nbsp; It is tempting and easy to say:\u0026nbsp; We\ncan\u2019t get there from here.\u0026nbsp; It is true that today in our troubled world we\ncan\u2019t see the top of the mountain.\u0026nbsp;\nBut we can see that we are heading down \u2013 not up.\u0026nbsp; We can see that\nwe must turn around, that we must take paths leading to higher ground and that\nwe must get others to move with us.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe forum will integrate and build upon Senator Nunn\u0027s co-leadership of two\nprojects. The first is the Nuclear Threat Initiative\u0027s Nuclear Security\nProject, which Nunn leads in concert with former Secretaries of State George P.\nShultz and Henry A. Kissinger and former Secretary of Defense William J. Perry,\nand which, in cooperation with the Hoover Institution, aims to promote global\nsteps towards reducing reliance on nuclear weapons. \u0026nbsp;Nunn also co-leads the Carnegie Endowment\u0027s Euro-Atlantic\nSecurity Initiative, which strives to foster new approaches to collective\nsecurity.\u0026nbsp; It also builds upon new\ninitiatives to assess future requirements for strategic stability under way at\nGeorgia Tech\u0027s Center for International Strategy, Technology and Policy. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EAdam Stulberg, director of the Center for International Strategy, Technology\nand Policy and professor in Georgia Tech\u2019s Sam Nunn School of International\nAffairs, said, \u201cWith leaders from across the Euro-Atlantic space now seeking to\nrecapture the promise of strategic partnership, the time is ripe for exploring\nfresh and pragmatic approaches to forging inclusive security architectures as a\ncritical step towards bolstering strategic reassurance.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe forum will highlight underlying political, security, economic and energy\nissues that currently complicate reassurance among Europe, Russia and the\nUnited States, as well as propose realistic directions for redressing these\nfault lines and strengthening cooperation.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\n\nThe biennial Sam Nunn Bank of America Policy Forum\nis a day-long policy meeting presented by the Sam Nunn School of International\nAffairs.\u0026nbsp; The forum brings together\nnoted academic, government and private-sector experts on technology, public policy\nand international affairs for discussion of critical issues confronting the\nUnited States in the 21st century.\u0026nbsp;\nIt was developed from Nunn\u2019s vision of increasing understanding among\npolicymakers, academic researchers, technologists and citizens regarding important\nissues facing them.
