  <body><![CDATA[<p>Meanwhile down in Australia, the same issues impacting U.S. coral reefs&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;global warming, bleaching &ndash;&nbsp;have also been taking their toll on&nbsp;the <a href="http://www.greatbarrierreef.org">Great Barrier Reef</a>, one of the world&#39;s natural wonders and a top global tourist attraction.&nbsp;An advisory committee is now suggesting an update to&nbsp;plans that could&nbsp;help the reef&#39;s ecosystem. <a href="http://www.eas.gatech.edu/people/Kim_Cobb">Kim Cobb</a> of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers some hope that parts of the Great Barrier Reef could survive past 2050.</p>
