The result is a flower-like graph that depicts the individual\u0026rsquo;s unique response, explained Victoria Chai, a master\u0026rsquo;s student in\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/mshci.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EHuman Computer Interaction\u003C\/a\u003E, who worked on the project with LMC\u0026nbsp;faculty members\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/nassim.lmc.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ENassim JafariNaimi\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/a\u003Eand\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/pollock\u0022\u003EAnne Pollock\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAccording to the project description, \u0026ldquo;it brings together humanities and physiology scholars to create an art installation that uses representation, tracking, and multiple visualizations, both digital and non-digital, to investigate and reflect upon the heart.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPARSE (Participatory Approaches to Researching Sensing Environments)\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPARSE is an ongoing project that looks to investigate technologies and services behind Smart Cities by combining design, the humanities, and social science methodologies. At the DILAC workshop,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/carl-disalvo\u0022\u003ECarl DiSalvo\u003C\/a\u003E, an assistant professor in LMC, displayed a smart cities kit meant to help community and student groups work through how smart cities technologies might affect the quality of life in a community.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Public Design Workshop, a research studio led by DiSalvo, developed this kit for a series of workshops to explore issues surrounding smart city concepts.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIt encourages users to draw on their past experiences in the community to build a scene, imagine how others might experience it, think about what kinds of information the scene conveys, what users might want to know about the situation, and then how to use smart city technology to help tell those stories.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIt includes a map, a set of cards representing scenarios such as a power outage, snow storm, or festival, as well as icons for things people routinely encounter in cities, such as emergency vehicles, traffic cones, or bicycles.
