Saeedifard is an associate professor in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis award recognizes a young researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the industrial electronics field and is within his\/her first 10 years of professional experience from the date of his\/her last academic degree. The awardee is selected based on the technical importance of the contribution, subject matter, originality, and prospects for future success.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESaeedifard was selected for her outstanding research contributions in modulation and control of multilevel converters and voltage-sourced converter-based high-voltage DC (HVDC) transmission systems. She conducts research in the area of medium- and high-power energy electronics systems for utility and industrial applications.\u0026nbsp;More specifically, her group is focusing on modeling and control of\u0026nbsp;advanced converter topologies,\u0026nbsp;protection of multi-terminal DC grids, and power electronic systems based on emerging wide-band-gap switching devices.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESaeedifard will be presented with this award during the banquet of\u0026nbsp;the 2018 IEEE Industrial Electronics Society\u0026nbsp;Conference (IECON), which will be held October 21-23 in\u0026nbsp;Washington D.C.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EECE Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;Maryam Saeedifard\u0026nbsp;has been chosen for the 2018 IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) J.
