{"618757":{"#nid":"618757","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Jennifer Singh Wins 2019 SLS Award for Excellence","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EJennifer Singh is the winner of the 2019 SLS Award for Excellence in Community-Engaged Sustainability Teaching.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis award recognizes the\u0026nbsp;broad resonance of her\u0026nbsp;teaching and testifies\u0026nbsp;to how profoundly her\u0026nbsp;students\u0026rsquo; trajectories have been\u0026nbsp;shaped by their experiences in her\u0026nbsp;courses, particularly \u0026quot;Health Inequalities,\u0026quot; and \u0026quot;The Sociology of Medicine and Health.\u0026quot;\u0026nbsp; These courses, and her community partnerships, are setting a truly high bar for community engagement at the Institute.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOne\u0026nbsp;student, Olivia Rea, wrote\u0026nbsp;about the powerful connection Dr. Singh\u0026nbsp;forged for her and her peers between the classroom and the communities just beyond campus:\u0026nbsp;\u0026quot;\u003Cem\u003EI became much more aware\u0026nbsp;of the greater Atlanta community and the resources students and faculty alike possessed to make a positive impact beyond the borders of campus.
