The consortium\u0026rsquo;s nine founding partners, including Georgia Tech, joined forces to collaborate on scientifically sound, scalable, impactful, and viable ocean conservation solutions.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAt the meeting, the first \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.oceanvisions.org\/tethys\u0022\u003EOcean Visions Tethys Award\u003C\/a\u003E will be presented to \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/gordon.science.oregonstate.edu\/lubchenco\/\u0022\u003EJane Lubchenco\u003C\/a\u003E, former director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Distinguished University Professor at Oregon State University. The award is named after the Greek goddess of water; it honors role models who contributed to, promoted, enabled, or raised awareness about ocean solutions and who inspire new generations of ocean experts and leaders.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cblockquote\u003E\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026quot;The ocean is our past and our future. Wayne Clough\u003C\/a\u003E, secretary emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution and president emeritus of Georgia Tech.
