The\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003ETransformative Narratives\u003C\/em\u003E initiative empowers the campus community by increasing self-awareness, cultural competence, and empathy.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe innovative initiative will host its second storytelling crawl this fall with a seven-event lineup scheduled November 11, 12, and 14, and will feature more than two dozen national and local Atlanta and Georgia Tech storytellers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;In addition to our 75-story audio collection and 24-portrait traveling collection, we are proud of our live storytelling events, which showcase the array of individuals\u0026rsquo; unique identities and common life experiences held by the Tech community,\u0026rdquo; said \u003Cstrong\u003ECheryl Cofield\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003ETransformative Narratives \u003C\/em\u003Ecurator, director of SDIE\u0026rsquo;s Inclusion and Engagement and co-producer of the storytelling crawl. \u0026ldquo;Thirteen of these recorded stories are part of our growing collection focusing on mental health,\u0026rdquo; she added.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECampus storytelling crawl participants will include \u003Cstrong\u003EStephen McLaughlin\u003C\/strong\u003E, dean of the College of Engineering; \u003Cstrong\u003EKatie Farris \u003C\/strong\u003E(School of Literature, Media, and Communication); \u003Cstrong\u003ESandy\u003C\/strong\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003ESimpson\u003C\/strong\u003E (Strategic Consulting); \u003Cstrong\u003EKamau Bobb\u003C\/strong\u003E (College of Computing); \u003Cstrong\u003EStephanie Ray \u003C\/strong\u003E(Student Life); and the College of Sciences\u0026rsquo; \u003Cstrong\u003EJuan Archila\u003C\/strong\u003E, \u003Cstrong\u003EEmma Blanford\u003C\/strong\u003E, and \u003Cstrong\u003EA. Maureen Rouhi\u003C\/strong\u003E, among a host of other Georgia Tech storytellers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Our annual crawl provides a concentrated opportunity to experience the power of connection through live storytelling, workshops, and other forms of spoken word,\u0026rdquo; said \u003Cstrong\u003EPearl Alexander\u003C\/strong\u003E, executive director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement and crawl co-producer. \u0026ldquo;These experiences foster community and engagement in one of the oldest and most creative art forms.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAttendees at the November 11 Story Coaching with the Masters workshop will receive coaching from experts \u003Cstrong\u003EKathleen Schaag\u003C\/strong\u003E, Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow with the School of Literature, Media, and Communication; \u003Cstrong\u003EMelissa Foulger\u003C\/strong\u003E, artistic director of DramaTech; \u003Cstrong\u003EShannon Turner\u003C\/strong\u003E, story coach, radio host, and founder and creative director\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;StoryMuse; and \u003Cstrong\u003EAkbar Imhotep\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E, \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/em\u003Eaward-winning storyteller and author of children\u0026#39;s stories.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENational touring artist \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.sdie.gatech.edu\/about-jamie-brickhouse\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EJamie Brickhouse\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, performance duo \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.sdie.gatech.edu\/spirit\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIn the Spirit\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, and local artists \u003Cstrong\u003ESandra Hughes\u003C\/strong\u003E, \u003Cstrong\u003EMaddie Fay\u003C\/strong\u003E, \u003Cstrong\u003ERandy Osborne\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;and \u003Cstrong\u003ECola Rum\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;will grace the stage at the Ferst Center for the Arts on November 13.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThrough\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003ETransformative Narratives\u003C\/em\u003E, SDIE has also curated two dozen artistically embellished traveling photographic portraits, currently hosted in the College of Engineering\u0026rsquo;s School of Mechanical Engineering MDRC and MDRC II buildings.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd, there have been a number of campus partners helping to make the storytelling initiative at Tech a reality.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EUnits such as Ivan Allen College\u0026#39;s School of Literature, Media, and Communication, the College of Architecture\u0026rsquo;s School of Music, and Georgia Tech Professional Education have contributed through\u0026nbsp;music and production assistance, while many faculty and staffers from across the campus have served on the steering committee to guide efforts.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe unit continues to lead the work of excavating, coaching, and publishing stories and seeks additional stories from faculty, staff, and students.
