Malliaras\u003C\/a\u003E, deputy editor for physical sciences and engineering content.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;I am honored and very excited to take on this role as an associate editor of Science Advances because it gives me the opportunity to both provide an essential service to my community and to play an important role in its development,\u0026rdquo; Silva says.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EScience Advances is a digital-only, open access extension of \u003Cem\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/\u0022\u003EScience\u003C\/a\u003E \u003C\/em\u003Emagazine, according to the journal\u0026rsquo;s website.\u003Cem\u003E \u003C\/em\u003E\u0026quot;Science Advances\u0026nbsp;expands the quality of\u003Cem\u003E\u0026nbsp;Science\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;in an open access format, with the same rigorous standards for impact and peer review, but with a capacity to publish more content, with flexible formats for research articles (up to 15,000 words) and reviews, and reasonable open access charges,\u0026quot; Silva added.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EScience Advances\u0026nbsp;editors oversee the review process of submitted manuscripts and are selected from an international pool of researchers with high levels of achievement and recognition in their fields. \u0026ldquo;Our editors not only have stellar reputations in their disciplines, but also have acknowledged breadth in recognizing and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations,\u0026rdquo; according to the website.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn his biography on the Science Advances website, Silva\u0026rsquo;s research topics include ultrafast spectroscopy, excitons, polarons, polaritons, conjugated polymers, and hybrid semiconductors (including perovskites). The \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/silva.chemistry.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESilva Research Group\u003C\/a\u003E at Georgia Tech studies the fundamental chemical and physical principles that govern excited-state dynamics in complex materials for optoelectronics and photonics. \u0026ldquo;Our experimental toolbox is broad, but we primarily implement nonlinear ultrafast spectroscopy and quantum optics to understand the optical and electronic properties properties of molecular and hybrid semiconductor materials.
