About the Speaker
Kisha B. Holden, Ph.D., MSCR, is a psychologist and the Poussaint-Satcher Endowed Chair in Mental Health and associate director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. At Morehouse, she is a professor and director of research and scholarship for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and professor in the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine.

Holden has dedicated her career to encouraging mental health and well-being among ethnically and culturally diverse families through research, program initiatives, and the development of innovative strategies for informing health policies. She has placed a special emphasis on addressing the needs of underserved and underrepresented populations that are often overlooked, yet prevail in contributing to the myriad of health disparities. Holden aims to promote excellence in community-based clinical and translational mental health research, develop innovative programs that improve accessibility of individuals to comprehensive health care, and develop culturally centered, gender-specific, resilience-based prevention, and intervention models for individuals at risk for depression.

Amplified: Race and Reality in STEM aims to give a national platform to speakers to have candid conversations around race and diversity in the STEM fields. Launched in 2020 as part of Gladstone’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, this series is hosted in partnership with Georgia Tech, the Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute at University of Washington, and The University of Texas at Austin.
