  <title><![CDATA[Atlanta battlefield buff honored for contributions]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Georgia Tech alumnus&nbsp;<a href="https://cos.gatech.edu/charles-j-crawford">Charlie Crawford</a>, a former member of the <a href="https://cos.gatech.edu/about/advisory-board">College of Sciences Advisory Board&nbsp;</a>who turned his fascination with America&#39;s historic&nbsp;battlefields into a decades-long&nbsp;mission to preserve them, has received the 2022&nbsp;John Macpherson Berrien Lifetime Achievement Award&nbsp;from the Georgia Historical Society. Crawford, who&nbsp;received his B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the <a href="https://math.gatech.edu">School of Mathematics</a> in 1971, served as the president of the <a href="http://www.georgiabattlefields.org/home.aspx">Georgia Battlefields Association</a> for 20 years, and has been a member of the <a href="https://www.battlefields.org/help-preserve-245-acres-williamsburg?ms=googlepaid&amp;utm_source=Google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=245Williamsburg&amp;ms=googlepaid&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMInqvuqu2J9gIVPxPUAR1T6wiiEAAYASAAEgKvtfD_BwE">American Battlefield Trust</a> since 1991. A retired U.S. Air Force colonel, Crawford&nbsp;designed &mdash; and still leads &mdash; &nbsp;a&nbsp;walking tour of historic sites in downtown Atlanta.</p>
