Pending approval by Governor Brian Kemp, the University System of Georgia will allocate an unprecedented additional $98.3 million to Georgia Tech for the upcoming fiscal year (FY23). This brings Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s total state appropriations to nearly $457 million \u0026ndash; a 27% increase.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;We are deeply grateful to Governor Kemp, the General Assembly, and the University System of Georgia for their ongoing support and their continued investment for the coming year,\u0026rdquo; said Georgia Tech President \u0026Aacute;ngel Cabrera. \u0026ldquo;Their willingness to invest in our people \u0026ndash; both students and employees \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;is a testament to their support of higher education as well as Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s commitment to offer an excellent educational experience to our students and a top-notch place to work for every member of our faculty and staff.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe funds appropriated by the state will allow Georgia Tech to eliminate the Special Institutional Fee, which amounts to $344 per semester for graduate students and $544 for undergraduates. In addition, the Board of Regents voted to \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.usg.edu\/news\/release\/board_of_regents_approves_no_tuition_increase_at_25_of_26_institutions_for_the_2022_23_academic_year\u0022\u003Ekeep tuition steady\u003C\/a\u003E for the third consecutive year. \u0026ldquo;At a time of great national concern over the mounting cost of higher education, it is comforting to see that the cost of a Georgia Tech education will not only not go up this year but indeed will be reduced,\u0026rdquo; Cabrera said. \u0026ldquo;We are fortunate to be in a state that invests in higher education so that we can offer high quality and affordable options to our students.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe new budget will also fund a \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/news.gatech.edu\/news\/2022\/03\/21\/cost-living-salary-adjustments-coming-soon\u0022\u003ECost of Living Adjustment\u003C\/a\u003E of $5,000 per employee that will begin to appear this month in employee paychecks.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s additional $98.3 million in state appropriations for FY23 can be broken down as follows:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E$38.8 million in enrollment growth funding.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E$33.6 million to fund the elimination of the Special Institutional Fees.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E$24.8 million to fund the Cost of Living Adjustment.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E$1.1 million in adjustments to employee benefits and maintenance and operations.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAlong with next year\u0026rsquo;s budget allocation, the USG also approved several capital projects, to be paid for with institutional funds, at Georgia Tech including a new \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ramblinwreck.com\/board-of-regents-approves-student-athlete-performance-center\/\u0022\u003EStudent-Athlete Performance Center\u003C\/a\u003E, an Aerospace Engineering Aircraft Hangar Facility, and improvements to the Blake R. Van Leer Building for Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as safety and accessibility enhancements to Ferst Drive and campus streetscapes.
