The annual competition includes students from seven Southeastern universities:\u0026nbsp;Duke University, Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, the University of North Georgia, and Vanderbilt University.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia State co-hosted this year\u0026rsquo;s virtual contest with the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.atlantakec.org\/?lang=en_us\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EKorean Education Center\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;in Atlanta on April 16, 2022. Students were divided into heritage or non-heritage speakers, with three proficiency levels at the non-heritage level and two at the heritage level. Twenty-three students competed in the five levels of the contest.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ELina Rhazi, a first-year aerospace engineering major with a minor in Korean, won first place in the non-heritage level one category. Her speech was titled \u0026ldquo;What I felt While Learning Korean.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;I am grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of this enriching competition. Participating allowed\u0026nbsp;me to hear about other people\u0026#39;s Korean learning journey and\u0026nbsp;feed my own perseverance in learning this beautiful language,\u0026rdquo; Rhazi said.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENoelle Watkins is a first-year civil engineering major who plans to add a second major in Korean and a minor in Chinese to her studies. She won second place in the non-heritage level two category for her presentation titled \u0026ldquo;Analyzing my Growing Relationship with an Ajummah.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;I wanted to participate in the contest because I wanted to challenge myself \u0026mdash; could I move an audience in a language that I\u0026rsquo;m not native in?
