{"659875":{"#nid":"659875","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Recent ECE Graduate, Abigail Ivemeyer, Awarded Outstanding Student Scholarship","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EAbigail\u0026nbsp;Ivemeyer, a recent master\u0026rsquo;s graduate in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), has received an IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Outstanding Student Scholarship.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe award recognizes PES student members from around the world who have chosen an academic path leading to an electric power and energy engineering career. Ivemeyer recently began her full- time career as a Transmission Planning Engineer for Southern Company in Birmingham, Ala.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIvemeyer completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies in electrical engineering with a focus in power systems in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Her intern work experience while a student at Tech included two summers at Walton EMC where she developed variable rate models and implemented field data entry applications as well as two summers working in substation design engineering at Burns \u0026amp; McDonnell.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShe was advised by ECE assistant professor Daniel Molzahn as a master\u0026rsquo;s student. Her research focused on the outcomes and considerations that may need to be made in power system planning and operation as the penetration of distributed energy resources continues to rise.
