The award recognizes PES student members from around the world who have chosen an academic path leading to an electric power and energy engineering career. Ivemeyer recently began her full- time career as a Transmission Planning Engineer for Southern Company in Birmingham, Ala.

Ivemeyer completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies in electrical engineering with a focus in power systems in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Her intern work experience while a student at Tech included two summers at Walton EMC where she developed variable rate models and implemented field data entry applications as well as two summers working in substation design engineering at Burns & McDonnell.

She was advised by ECE assistant professor Daniel Molzahn as a master’s student. Her research focused on the outcomes and considerations that may need to be made in power system planning and operation as the penetration of distributed energy resources continues to rise. Ivemeyer’s biggest extracurricular involvements on campus, beyond the IEEE PES student chapter, were spreading joy with Ramblin' Reck Club and mentoring students in extended orientation programs with Wreck Camp.
