Roland will highlight the different opportunities for\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nengineers in the semiconductor industry, as well as some of his lessons learned with the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\ndesire that some of these will benefit students who are embarking on the next step of their\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\ncareer.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EBiographical Sketch of the Speaker:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003ERoland Sperlich is vice president and general manager of the Interface business unit at\u0026nbsp;Texas Instruments. He joined TI in 2005. In his current role, he leads a team that covers\u0026nbsp;Logic and Voltage Translation Devices, MUXes and Protection Devices, Isolation\u0026nbsp;Products, and Transceivers. These products address a growing\u0026nbsp;TAM of over $5B in\u0026nbsp;annual revenue.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERoland has been part of the Interface business since 2010, when he became product line\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nmanager for High Speed Interface.\u0026nbsp;In this role, he led the team to develop a differentiated\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nanalog portfolio of signal conditioners including the industry\u0026rsquo;s highest performance\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\npassive switches, the first USB2.0 redriver and TI\u0026rsquo;s first DP\/HDMI retimer portfolio. The\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nteam also qualified and made inroads with a large portfolio of USB interface products for\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nautomotive infotainment systems.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2015, Roland assumed responsibility for the Transceiver product line where he was\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nresponsible for all TI transceiver products, including those supporting RS-485\/232, I2C,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nCAN\/LIN and System Basis Chips (SBC). Under his leadership, the product line grew by\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n30% and was able to enter the competitive CAN\/LIN and SBC marketplace.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nRoland received his bachelor\u0026rsquo;s degree in electrical and computer engineering from\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nMerrimack College, his master\u0026rsquo;s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nGeorgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
