Ogden Professor\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nPritzker School of Molecular Engineering\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nUniversity of Chicago\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nRegister \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/gatech.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_7AceC1-tT3-_K040R5yung\u0022\u003EHERE\u003C\/a\u003E for Zoom Link\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESwartz started her independent career as an assistant professor at Northwestern University in the Department of Biomedical Engineering before moving to the Ecole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne (EPFL), where she was promoted to full professor and eventually served as director of the Institute of Bioengineering.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nTrained as a bioengineer, Prof. Swartz uses quantitative approaches in immunobiology and physiology, including biotransport and biomechanics, to develop a deeper understanding of how the lymphatic system regulates immunity in homeostasis and disease, particularly in cancer and chronic inflammation. Her lab applies this knowledge to develop novel immunotherapeutic approaches in cancer, including lymph node-targeting vaccine approaches, as well as in vitro model systems that recapitulate relevant features of the tumor-immune interface.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nAmong her many honors, Swartz was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2023, National Academy of Medicine in 2020, elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2018, and named a MacArthur Fellow in 2012.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cem\u003EThe Bioengineering Seminar Series is co-hosted by the Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience and the Wallace H.
