Melat has been conducting research in Dr. Kim Cobb\u2019s lab using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), analyzing modern-day and fossil coral samples from the tropical Pacific to reconstruct past climate and El Nino events since February 2016.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMelat is currently interning at The Nature Conservancy to explore interest in conservation and urban\/global sustainability. \u0026nbsp; Melat is the recipient of the Rutt Bridges Undergraduate Research Fellowship and the US Green Building Council Scholarship.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn her spare time, Melat likes to attend concerts, read, volunteer, and cook with friends. She has been a part of Women\u0027s Leadership Conference planning committee, International House, and the Sustainability \u0026amp; Society ThinkBig.
