And what are the lenses that we need, in addition to technologists, to be able to understand better \u2018What are the impacts of artificial intelligence, in our society, in our communities? What\u0027s the value? What are the risks, and how do we mitigate those risks?\u2019\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EResearchers in Ivan Allen College ask these questions across disciplines, delving into \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/feature-news\/2023\/08\/ai-ethics\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EAI ethics concerns\u003C\/a\u003E, the use of \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/658942\/georgia-tech-researcher-finds-that-military-cannot-rely-strategy-judgment\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EAI in the military\u003C\/a\u003E, the intersection of \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.gatech.edu\/news\/2023\/07\/14\/exploring-art-and-ai-georgia-techs-school-literature-media-and-communication\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Eart and AI\u003C\/a\u003E, and much more.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn addition, the panelists discussed AI policy and whether or not the emerging capabilities of AI are too new and varied to be regulated just yet. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022We don\u0027t have the evidence and the knowledge right now to put something in that\u0027s generally broad-based, very high level \u2014 we just don\u0027t have that,\u0022 Husbands Fealing said. The research needs to come first, and it won\u0027t be a one-size-fits-all situation, she said.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhen it comes to designing the myriad regulatory policies that will be put into place, Husbands Fealing anticipates cooperation between the private and public sectors.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022It has to be a collaborative process. It has to be a process where we\u0027re looking at, yes, what the federal government or possibly others can fund, but it has to be in concert with industry,\u0022 she said. Husbands Fealing also stressed the importance of communicating government protections with the public as AI rolls out and keeping people informed and engaged in conversations about how it may affect their jobs.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn closing, Husbands Fealing brought up a final concern about generative AI that the panelists hadn\u0027t yet touched on: cybersecurity.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022At the end of the day, cyber threats are another layer of the same type of issue where we need to find solutions,\u0022 she said.
