      <value><![CDATA[<p><span><span>The objective of the proposed research is to develop mmWave band front-end technology, including switches, phase sifters, and reconfigurable filters for use in antenna arrays. Vanadium dioxide, a phase change material, is used in the proposed research for its low loss and wideband matching characteristics at mmWave band. Emerging 5G systems at mmWave band require the use of antenna arrays to overcome high atmospheric losses. Such arrays require phase shifters to reconfigure their radiation pattern and illuminate coverage areas dynamically. Reconfigurable filters at the front-end address considerations such as reducing noise bandwidth, suppression of co-channel interference, and enabling multi-standard interoperability.</span></span></p>
