Hosted by the Atlanta Pediatric Device Consortium (APDC), the event will give out three to five awards ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 depending on the device and its stage of development. Devices will be targeted to the pediatric population and divided into four age groups, ranging from birth to age 21. Submissions will come from faculty, entrepreneurs, clinicians, fellows, residents and students from any of the APDC institutions (consisting of Georgia Tech, Emory University, Saint Joseph Translation Research Institute and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta).

APDC was launched this month with a two-year, $1.8 million grant from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to encourage the development of medical devices tailored to the needs of children, with the plan of taking the devices from conception to commercialization.
