Private\ngift income to the Institute and its associated foundations totaled $118.1\nmillion, as reported to the Council for Aid to Education (CAE), which measures\nonly gifts received, excluding pledges.\u0026nbsp;Within the total, $5 million was\ngiven for unrestricted current operations and $2 million for unrestricted\nendowment, with the balance for restricted purposes.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech\nalumni and friends have a longstanding tradition of generously supporting the\nInstitute. Given the bold and visionary aspirations articulated in our 25-year\nstrategic plan, this support is more crucial now than ever before,\u201d said\nGeorgia Tech President G. P. \u201cBud\u201d Peterson. \u201cI am very pleased \u2013 but certainly\nnot surprised \u2013 to see that our community\u2019s robust philanthropic track record grew\neven stronger last year.\u201d\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBy use, $49\nmillion was directed for current operations, $32 million for permanent\nendowment, and $37 million for facilities and equipment.\u0026nbsp;Programmatically,\nhighlights included $44 million designated for the College of Engineering, $13\nmillion for the College of Management and $24 million for intercollegiate\nathletics.\u0026nbsp;The largest sources of funding came once again from alumni and\ncorporations, each providing $41 million to the total.\u0026nbsp;Once again, alumni\nparticipation is anticipated to be among the highest within all public\nuniversities nationwide.\u0026nbsp;Current and emeritus trustees of the Georgia Tech\nFoundation provided nearly $11 million in gifts during the twelve-month period.\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn the prior\n2010 fiscal year, Georgia Tech and its associated foundations accounted for 43\npercent of all gifts made to the 35 public institutions that comprise the\nUniversity System of Georgia.\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;According to\nTech\u2019s Vice President for Development, Barrett H. Carson,\u003Cem\u003E Campaign Georgia\nTech\u003C\/em\u003E continued its progress toward its expanded goal of $1.5 billion,\nposting progress at $1.019 billion and keeping pace at an average rate of\nnearly $3 million per week.\u0026nbsp;Two new campus structures were dedicated in\nlate September, each driven in large part by philanthropy \u2013 the John and Mary\nBrock Football Facility and the G. Wayne Clough Undergraduate Learning\nCommons.\u0026nbsp;John F. Brock, chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Enterprises and a\n1970 Chemical Engineering graduate of Georgia Tech, chairs the $1.5 billion\ncomprehensive campaign, which will conclude in 2015.\u0026nbsp;\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cDespite the uncertainty of the financial\nmarkets regionally, nationally and internationally, philanthropy to the\nInstitute continues strong across all constituencies.
